After Mohor's death, Jara's family is split up. She is sent to Arad with Vio, both Orban's prisoners. Saline is kept in Severin, in Aron's hands.

Dochia is sent to infiltrate the Serpentist Sect, and she will not return to Frankis for some time.

The Circle and the Wanderers recruit the Duke of Peyris and the Duke of Tolosa to destroy Codrin, who has found refuge in Poenari. Armies from all over Frankis gather under the walls of Poenari to lay siege, and chaos may be the only victor.
