Beskrivelse
In the present work, several plant proteins were prospected for identification of antimicrobial peptides by bioinformatics analyses, which were synthesized, characterized and their activities and mechanisms of action tested against some phytopathogenic fungi, bacteria and yeasts. The experimental and bioinformatics analyses showed that peptides interacted with a very low binding energy with a specific plasma membrane receptor of Candida albicans and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, which has been described to promote the induction of apoptosis in yeast. The results indicate that engineered synthetic peptides may be candidates for the development of a specific antimicrobial agent against the pathogen Candida albicans
