From the pediatric point of view, preeclampsia has usually been considered as a relevant cause of neonatal morbidity, since it generates a large part of the births that occur before term or because of the negative impact it has on neonatal weight.Preeclampsia is responsible for low birth weight, preterm, respiratory distress, perinatal asphyxia, intrauterine growth restriction, fetal and neonatal deaths.Preeclampsia is defined as the presence of new hypertension, edema and proteinuria that affects various organs, even leading to the death of the mother and/or fetus after 20 weeks of gestation in a previously normotensive woman, which has contributed to the morbimortality presented in the province of Pinar del Rio in Cuba during this period, which has triggered a series of emerging measures to reverse this situation, among which is the research on the phenomenon that we find today.
