L neburg Heath, in the northeast of Lower Saxony, has a checkered history: the barren landscape has housed prisoner-of-war camps, the Bergen Belson concentration camp and hosted British troops until 1993. Photographer Anja Putensen (born 1977) captures the region, traces of its history still visible today.
