A student arrives at the University of Colorado, United States, in search of the academic version of the American dream. The promise of this campus as a sanctuary where Western issues--such as background, race, and class--are resolved, succumbs to nighttime reality. Students dwell past the walls of the city, hunting everything the day denies them: light, company, tenderness, certainty. The protagonist's gaze explores those stories threaded during an endless night: the obsession with South America as a romantic, sexual, and political destination; parallel and toxic affairs; the need to erase any signs of identity in order to create a new one; literature as a safekeep; the future becomes a form of darkness barely illuminated by some far away alien stars.
