Beskrivelse
Animal Farm is an allegorical novella that tells the story of a group of farm animals who rebel against their human owner, Mr. Jones, in a bid for independence and equality. Led initially by the visionary Old Major and later by two pigs, Snowball and Napoleon, the animals establish a new regime under the principles of Animalism. However, as Napoleon seizes power, the farm's initial ideals of equality and shared prosperity are gradually corrupted.
In Animal Farm George Orwell explores themes of power, propaganda, and the betrayal of revolutionary ideals, mirroring the events and aftermath of the Russian Revolution. Through its satirical narrative, the novel critiques totalitarianism and the cyclical nature of power, making it a timeless political commentary. Time magazine chose the book as one of the 100 best English-language novels ever written.
