The rapid development of laparoscopic techniques after their introduction in surgical practice at the end of the 80s and beginning of 90s of XXth century brought about a conceptual revolution in surgery. The initial mistrust and skepticism - accompanying every new initiative - gave rapidly way to the enthusiasm with becoming aware of the new perspectives for development before surgery. There is virtually no operation in the field of abdominal surgery, which cannot be realized by laparoscopic means. An increasingly bigger set of different laparoscopic techniques for performing operative interventions is at the disposal of both surgeon and patients. Biliary lithiasis - as one of the commonest present-day diseases - has major medical and social significance. It is determined not only by the frequency, but also by the risks from complications, the limitations in the fitness for work, and the everyday activity, which worsens the quality of life of people having that pathology.
