This work systematizes the theoretical and methodological references that support the criteria handled by the most current research on text, audiovisual text, audiovisual language and comprehension of audiovisual texts, in the light of the cognitive, communicative and sociocultural approach. This work also presents the results of an investigation to develop the comprehension of audiovisual texts in the students of the circle of interest of cinema of the basic secondary school "Angola Libre", of Santa Cruz del Norte (Cuba). For this purpose, a system of activities was elaborated, composed by tasks before, simultaneous and after the viewing of five audiovisual texts.
