American in Ukraine

Due to Russia's attempted invasion of Ukraine, Ukraine has been in the news now more than at any time in recent memory. But what is this country like? What are it's people like? What is it like in REAL LIFE, to a foreigner from halfway around the world? In 2016 as my corporate I.T. career was winding down, I sold, gave away, or threw away almost everything I had, packed two suitcases, and MOVED TO UKRAINE where I lived for five years experiencing real life in this wonderful country. I lived in the most historic section of Kyiv, became friends with some of the best people I've ever met, and had life-changing experiences along the way. This book is about those eye-opening, life-changing experiences, some good, some bad, while living halfway around the world. I tell how I was able to so quickly become acquainted with people from a wide range of Ukrainian life, how my life became carefree and rewarding at the same time, and how I faced down a deadly medical condition thanks to the great Ukrainian surgeons who saved my life, and then how I fled the country in 2022 amidst screaming air raid sirens and aerial bombardment! It's pretty racy for a corporate I.T. cubicle guy! You'll meet some of the key characters of my journey, and stories are broken by segments introducing you to some of the more interesting, unique elements of their culture and thinking.
