Based on hitherto unknown sources, the present volume offers a comprehensive review of the political department of the Frankfurter Allgemeine from 1949 to 1982 under its founding editor Erich Welter. The author reveals the journalistic processes due to political, social and media developments and topics such as the NS past in the department, generational conflicts and its correspondent system.
