Beskrivelse
The author as a teenage school boy and young man, lived through exciting times in the 1960s and 1970s as the technology and techniques of rock and ice climbing evolved rapidly and as more and more dedicated 'amateurs' took up the sport across Europe and America. Reading these stories and adventures you may conclude that 'dedicated' should be replaced by 'fanatical'. And all this was achieved on a 'shoe string' among the Brits, in between busy working lives and later family life. The reader will soon recognise the existence of a vagabond, buccaneering approach to climbing life at this time ...except in the matter of the technical processes of climbing... in that area the true faithful worshiped the 'sacred rituals' of technique as though their lives depended on it... as often they did.
