Peter's astonishing journey took him from a near perfect family in an upscale neighborhood, to a serious drug addiction as a teenager, crime, school-suspension, imprisonment, and ultimately, financial success in business.
He credits his faith in God and the love of his family for the strength he needed to break his addiction to drugs and for his stunning transformation from felon to millionaire.
When Peter became hooked on crystal meth at age fifteen, he turned to a life of non-violent robberies to support his addiction to illegal drugs.
By the age of eighteen, he had stolen more than $1 million worth of merchandise. Motivated by the movie Gone in 60 Seconds, starring Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie, Peter used a bolt-cutter to steal a brand-new Mercedes-Benz, while he was strung out on meth!
When he was finally arrested for burglarizing the home of one of the wealthiest men in Phoenix, he was sentenced to twelve years in a high security prison with violent hard-core criminals who had committed crimes such as murder and armed robbery.
He quickly learned that to survive in the prison culture of gang politics and violence, he had to adapt. He built his body from 144 pounds of skin and bones to 264 pounds of rock-solid muscle and began to fight his way up the ranks.
Surrounded by concrete, steel, and fear, at age twenty-three he became the man who called the shots in his prison yard, the Shot Caller. Applying the boxing skills his uncle taught him as a kid, he gained a reputation for severe fights.
That reputation put him in solitary confinement in a maximum-security prison for the last eleven months of his full term.
But by the time he walked out of prison at age thirty, he knew he had to change again.
This time, he released his life of drugs, crime, and prison and turned to a life of freedom, faith, purpose, and success. This is a story that may shock you, but it will also inspire you to overcome the obstacles in your life.
This is the Peter 'Chappy' Meyerhoff story.
