Beskrivelse
In 1991 my husband Bob and I bought a beautiful 47-foot ketch named Adventure. Two years later, after equipping the boat and learning as much as we could about cruising, we both retired and put our house up for sale -- it was time to go. On January 24, 1993 we sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge and turned left. We cruised for ten years, spending time in the Sea of Cortez, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras and Panama. We transited the Panama Canal, returning to the United States 21/2 years later.
For the remaining years, mainly due to family problems, we traveled up and down the East Coast, from Florida to New England and the Bahamas. When our two daughters began having children of their own, we decided it was time to become actively involved as grandparents rather than to continue cruising. We will never forget Adventure and our wonderful life aboard her.
To keep our memories alive we diligently kept a cruising journal. It was only recently that we thought of sharing it with friends and family. Now we hope to share it with other cruisers, or potential cruisers who want to find out what the cruising life is all about. Some days consisted of boring, mundane activities, such as food shopping and laundry, but other days were filled with magical stories that we will never forget.
We hope that you will enjoy following our ten-year cruising adventure almost as much as we enjoy reliving it in this journal.
