ADOPT-A-QUOTE is a giftable collection of feelings -- expressed in 400 quotes, slogans and poems, by and for those touched by adoption, and organized in 8 chapters: Adoptees, Birth Mothers, Birth Fathers, Birth Siblings, Adoptive Mothers, Adoptive Fathers, Adoption Activists, and Adoption Authors -- including comments by civil rights activists, philosophers, psychologists, journalists, Supreme Court Justices, scholars and others who understand our issues, to provide a bridge to understanding by sharing. ADOPT-A-QUOTE was compiled because adoption has a language all its own. Since 1950, the "language of adoption" has most often been silently expressed in the grief of loss, the fantasy of origins, and by passive and active searches for information, biological relatives, and acceptance, while the adoption industry has controlled public perceptions about adoption. This book was also compiled to support and inspire those still struggling to express their untold stories.
