When Mrs. Wilson makes the class sort pens and pencils instead of heading out for recess, Addie Greer has had enough. She takes it upon herself to make sure this awful, unfair situation never happens again. Addie enlists the help of her two best friends, Grace and Daniel, to design and build the perfect device for sorting pens, pencils, and crayons. They each come up with a great idea . . . but none of the ideas are perfect! They all need work . . . lots of work. Can Addie and her friends build the perfect sorting machine and save recess? Or are they doomed to never having recess again?
