This book contains 36 photographs of Acorn Woodpeckers and their natural habitat in the highlands of central Arizona. Depicted are facial expressions, postures and flight patterns that are difficult for wildlife artists to depict accurately without the aid of photography. The text describes Acorn Woodpeckers physical characteristics, environment and habits. Suggestions are offered for accuracy in portraying the various seasons of the year. The photography and commentary will also be enjoyed by those interested in the topic but not using it produce works of art.
