Danielle leaves a small town in Iowa in search of her place in the world. She travels as far west as the Pacific Ocean will allow and meets Scruff, a local ne'er-do-well with amorous intentions. What Scruff lacks in refinement he makes up for with limitless resolve in his pursuit of Danielle. While it proves a formidable challenge for Scruff, the same comes easily to a successful businessman nearly twice Danielle's age.
