Beskrivelse
A Southern Family is a novel about life on a Georgia farm in the early 1900s. The story follows the lives of four of the eleven siblings of Elisabeth (Bess) and John Dalton. Martha, Lydia, and Abigail desire to leave the farm, hoping for a different life. James, on the other hand, wants nothing more than to own some of the family's land and continue with family tradition.
The siblings encounter setbacks as they pursue their well-laid plans. Their individual longings are thwarted by unexpected life events, challenging each to find a way forward. Martha is strong and creates a new path. Lydia takes the easy way out (or so she thinks)! James finds himself banished, bitter, and poised for retribution, while Abigail learns what it is to face reality. Readers will be captivated as the lives of the Dalton family members evolve and intertwine.
