Beskrivelse
Eleanor Chupp has spent the last six years caring for her cancer-stricken mother. Now her mother is gone, and Eleanor is left to live alone with her father, a mean-spirited man with a heart of granite. On a bitterly cold January day, Eleanor's father loses his temper and strikes her. Eleanor, scared for her life, runs away on her bicycle amidst a winter storm. She rides until she's exhausted and almost frozen. At last, she finds shelter in a barn. Mennonite Moses Stuckey is shocked to find a pretty, young Amish girl hiding in the straw in his family's barn. When he hears her story, he decides to help and lets her stay in the heated storage shed of his parents' house. Their secret relationship grows, and Moses falls in love with her. But when she disappears, he fears he may have lost her forever. Where did Eleanor go and why? And does she feel the same way about Moses? Will the new year give Eleanor the fresh start she so desperately needs?
