Dr. Kronmiller has greatly enjoyed tutoring high school students in preparation for the college entrance exams. It has brought him great joy to see academically motivated students discover the beauty of English, Mathematics and Science. This work is the culmination of fifteen years of teaching and preparing students for the college entrance exams and building strong skill sets in college bound students. The Math Section is designed to prepare the student for both the ACT Math Exam and the SAT Subject Exam Math Level II. This is not a quick and dirty guide to the ACT. A student who finishes this study guide will be well prepared for the ACT, SAT Subject Exam Math Level II and freshman college level work. After a brief introduction to controlling timing and completing each section within the time specified; Dr. Kronmiller spends the rest of the time building the student's basic academic skill set. A skill set is not just an assemblage of facts but the knowledge of how these facts were discovered and how they are used to solve problems of varying complexity. He scatters a few historical, sometimes amusing antidotes to illustrate everything from English Grammar to the basic Mathematics that lead to differential calculus. While some of this is beyond the scope of the ACT, he believes that the development from basic algebra provides excellent preparation. If you can conquer this book, you will not only score a great ACT score but will provide yourself an excellent review and preparation college courses. The approach provides an intuitive method that allows the student to be confident of completing each timed section with time remaining for review. Removing the stress of the timed aspect of the exam the student then can focus on achieving the highest score based on their current skill set. As mentioned above, the second part of the approach provides a strengthening of the student's skill set. Recently one of his student's parents wrote, ?What is quite remarkable about Dr. David Kronmiller was his ability to establish a trusting and friendly rapport with our son as he explained complicated concepts in concrete terms. He used his thorough knowledge in multiple academic areas along with his creativity to engage Daniel in discussions on a variety of related topics. As a result, Daniel's ability to grasp and master the concepts of an academic topic markedly improved as well as his insight into understanding the related effects and consequences of that particular concept in our world today. We highly recommend Dr. David Kronmiller as an effective and inspirational tutor in several areas of academics including all levels of science, math, world history, English language and literature." He uses this same approach in this book. Dr. Kronmiller holds an earned PhD. in Physics from the University of Texas at Dallas where he was a Robert Welch Fellow in Chemistry. He earned a B.S. in Natural Sciences, in the major areas of astronomy, math, physics and chemistry, from the University of Cincinnati. He is the inventor on multiple patents and author of peer review publications in electronics, physics, and chemistry. He is a member of the American Physical Society, Sigma Pi Sigma - National Physics Honor Society, American Chemical Society and the IEEE. In his early twenties, he worked for P&G and developed Downey fabric softener and optical brighteners for Tide. In his thirties, Dr. Kronmiller served as part of a medical missionary team in the Amazon Jungle of Brazil. Most recently using a method of laser chemistry, Dr. Kronmiller developed an asymmetric separation membrane used for water purification for long duration space flight. He has been teaching for over 40 years.
