Beskrivelse
In the mid to late 1970s, John N. DeFoore had a popular television program called, "A Place to Talk," broadcast out of Abilene, Texas. He was a popular speaker at retreats and conferences during that time as well. This book is a collection of talks given by John DeFoore on "A Place to Talk" in 1975 and at Laity Lodge retreats in 1973 and 1978.
The recordings of the sessions were transcribed and collected into this book. Much liberty has been taken in sentence structure to keep the conversational manner of John's talks. He tends to connect his series and thoughts with "and" and parenthetical comments (usually enclosed in emdashes here). Sometime that tends to create a long run-on sentence, but those conventions have been left in to allow the reader to follow his uninterrupted train of thought and read the talks in John's manner of speaking them.
It should be noted that these were telecasts and in-person sessions, so John does sometimes comment about putting "something on the board." For the most part these references to diagrams can be interpreted or "imagined" by the reader. They remain, because often within the reference hide nuggets of wisdom or insight.
These recordings were of conversations and talks from over forty years ago-a different era when gender roles were more defined. With that in mind, the reader will need to look beyond any stereotype situations and read words of wisdom which are just as relevant and timeless today as they were when the sessions were recorded.
