Beskrivelse
A form of verse drama popular in Renaissance Europe, the masque is here revived by poet Thomas Thornburg to present a theme "whose popularity in art, and whose usefulness as a philosophical paradigm, have endured to this day: the conflict between things Dionysian and Apollonian" - darkness and light, passion and reason - as this conflict seeks its resolution in the lyric arts of poetry and song.
