Ava Firestone had never stepped outside the four walls she was locked in between classes and occasional visits to the infirmary to treat bruises inflicted by instructors. She always kept her emotions hidden, as that was her only advantage in becoming the killing machine the Institute expected children to be by their 20th birthday.
