A Journey through Suffering: A New Reading of Job in the 21st Century

If God is good and all-powerful, why do we suffer? Can we avoid suffering? How do I handle suffering? Does any good come from suffering? When does suffering "win"? These questions and more swirl in our minds as we deal with international pandemics, racial injustice and unrest, increasingly destructive storms, debilitating illnesses, broken relationships, incapacitating injuries, increasing isolation, and any number of difficulties in our lives. The book of Job in the Old Testament records a journey through suffering that can teach us so much. As we walk with Job, as we sit with his friends, as we hear the voices of the Old and New Testaments respond to Job, we can learn better how to understand and endure the suffering of this life.
