Beskrivelse
A collection of 50 poetic short stories from a retired correctional officer's perspective. These rhymes were written during breaks and lockdowns from high above, inside towers and control booths within the institution. The dark view refers to the hostile environment, dire conditions and destructive behaviors inside and outside of the prison system. These words are full of Ebonics, urban slang, broken English and satire. The lyrics are inspired by a love of Hip Hop music and artistic expressions. Part 1 is all about the prison life. The interactions, experiences and conversations with inmates and staff give the reader a glimpse behind the wall. Part 2 deals with the struggle and strife of systemic racism and its devastating effects on black communities worldwide. Mass incarceration, police brutality, gang life and drug addiction are some of the issues addressed in this politically incorrect, grammatically incorrect and unapologetically Black collection of "PRISON BARZ AND POETIC WARZ." Some much-needed humor is sprinkled in to enhance the flavor of this boiling mixture of hope and despair. This is "A DARK VIEW FROM THE TOWER."
