"I'm sorry Cynthia, you are only 38 years old, it's not time for a mammogram, and you don't have a family history," the doctor said. For two more years, I felt the lump grow larger. At the age of 40, I was notified that I had breast cancer. Now I had to do the hardest thing I had ever done and notify those I loved. The emotional reaction was gut-wrenching. The screams of children in fear of losing their mother. The anger of a spouse for the misdiagnosis and an employer that had no compassion.
In this tear-jerking story of how I was notified of breast cancer and how I then notified others.
