Drawing on oral testemonies and other sources, the author has compiled a history of one of the most secretive POW camps in Britain, situated in Watten, Caithness. The camp's influences on present-day Caithness and on the wider world are illustrated, as are the daily lives of its inmates - some of them highranking Germans.
