The book chronicles Jasper Beamon's personal struggle of being born in abject poverty, challenges such as overcoming childhood abuse, developing PTSD and triumphs, such as receiving the Medal of Honor for rescuing Navy SEALS off the coast of Vietnam. Woven throughout the book are highlights of the Civil Rights movement and other Black History events including the segregated military, Dr. Martin L.
