"It would be difficult to overstate the clarifying wisdom of this little book, which can easily be read in one sitting but can be endlessly contemplated with great profit. Anyone familiar with the Big Book will find much familiar here, often cast in similar words and terms, though with an explicitly Christian outlook in keeping with the heyday of the Oxford Groups. Those who don't share his sincere Christian belief would do themselves a favor by setting aside their prejudices and see where this religious person is right. Though the book is not "based on the 12 Steps," it explains in depth the great need for personal change found in the heart of the Steps and offers some practical, God-based pointers on cleaning house, carrying the message and helping others. Among other things, Cecil Rose expounds on the true nature and purpose of prayer and meditation, explaining the how and why of a daily practice, without laying down a set of specifics that ultimately might hamper the individual's personal experience of God-direction. Anyone acting as a sponsor would benefit from his insights on the necessity of true honesty, open-mindedness and willingness in a one-to-one friendship with the new man. Simple but not easy."-A Reader
