This is a novel about three strong women in succeeding generations of the same family. First, Edith, an Anglican Minister's daughter and an impoverished widow struggling to support her infant son in rural Jamaica of the 1900's.... Then Luisa, trying to navigate Jamaican society of the 1920's as wife of a prominent young attorney... Lastly, Eve, product of the above two, who while achieving many of the things that were beyond the reach of her mother and grandmother, tries to follow her own special dream....
