In Rutland, England's smallest county, Arthur Thomas is at home with his baby when the first murmurs of an outbreak occur. Normal people are turning violent and attacking others. His first thoughts turn to his two other sons who live with his ex, but can he leave his baby and wife at home alone with the escalating violence in the town?

Emily Grant is a vet. Her and her dog survive an attack by the infected in her quiet village in Rutland and are now stuck in the countryside trying to survive.

Jason Mantle, Head of Biology at Loughborough University, gets an unexpected call. The government want him to head up a team of scientists to combat the pandemic. He now must find the origin of the virus before it's too late.
