Set in the late 1930s, The Yellow Shadow tells the tale of a young Stella Morris who is sent from London to stay with relatives in China after the death of her father. En route she meets a Chinese businessman and they form a close relationship. The prejudices of the English and Chinese systems rise quickly to the surface, pushing the two lovers apart.
