The Writer

Determined to write the next great American novel, Greg Emerson has spent decades chasing an elusive Idea. Grappling with a crippling case of writer's block and several failed attempts to produce a masterpiece, he embarks on a month-long retreat to a serene Smoky Mountain cabin in hopes that inspiration will strike.

His trip takes an unforeseen turn when he's revisited by a menacing Shadow and Voice-specters that have haunted him during the lowest points in his life. Mired in painful memories and with the Idea still out of reach, he fears he's losing sight of his ambitions-and his sanity. In his quest, Greg must choose whether to abandon his dream of ever becoming a writer or heed the Idea's call, even if it means confronting the traumas of his past.
