An alchemical romance set in Scotland, as type of allegorical tale. Written in German by Heinrich Christoph Friedrich Knoll (1752-1786) and published at Weimar in 1783.
Almost unknown, it was recently discovered by Adam McLean who set about translating it into English. The author was obviously well aquainted with alchemical ideas and has crafted this interested tale which has a suprise ending.
