This novella was first published in three-parts in Blackwood's Magazine in 1899 and in book form in 1902. This masterpiece by the Polish-British author has been widely studied in university literature classes and used or imitated by the radio and television shows such as: the radio drama starring Orson Welles 1938, the novel, "Apocalypse Now" 1979, and such video games as: "Far 2 Cry," 2008, "Spec Ops: The Line," 2012, and "Victoria II," 2013.
