Beskrivelse
During Napoleonic times there were many garrisons placed around the English Channel to prevent invasion by the French. One gun emplacement was based close to the cliff edge and overlooking the right side of the harbour. During this time a situation occurred which is commemorated today by naming an alley close to the gun emplacement, 'Screaming Alley.' It is believed that even today if you go there at night the screams still echo down this alley
