Toby arrives back from his four-year sojourn in Jamaica to bury his father the duke. As he makes ready to disembark a pair of mesmerizing eyes sears him from under the dark hood covering her face. When a few days later his butler ushers her, along with her father and sister into his library, he becomes intrigued. Finding out that they have a connection with his Manor, he is on his guard. He learns that they came from America to make peace with the former Lord of the Manor. Also, the older sister hopes that her large dowry will entice a title.
