Recovering Confidence

It all started out awesome. You had a beautiful new woman. She seemed to have everything you've ever wanted in a woman. She walked the right way, she said the right things-you guys had great chemistry.As awesome as the beginning was, you started noticing certain changes as time went by. She starts asking you for small favors, like picking up her laundry, paying a few small bills here and there, and dropping off stuff to friends. At the outset, you really didn't mind. You'd look at these small favors as opportunities for you to show her that you love her. These small tasks, regardless of how inconvenient they can sometimes be, were your way of showing to her that you love her.As time went by, the small stuff started taking more and more of your time. They became increasingly inconvenient and, in certain cases, downright uncomfortable. Still, you give in because you want to show her you love her. But at the back of your head, you knew what was going on.You're afraid that you might lose her, so you never stand your ground. You never tell her that you really did not have time to do her chores. You keep giving in. The more you gave in, the larger the "favors" became, and the more uncomfortable and inconvenient they got. Eventually, the relationship became all about her.She tells you what she wants. She also tells you what YOU want. She ends up telling you what to think. In fact, it got so bad that it reached a point that she even began to define what you can and cannot do. You still didn't mind. Well, you did mind, but you did not want to show it.Here you are, thinking that you have found "The One." For the life of you, you did not want to give her up, so you gave in again and again and again. Eventually, it dawned on you that you actually have given her your life. You've given your life to her because you felt she completed you.Now she's gone. It's time to pick up the pieces. It's time to put your life and identity back together.
