Toward the end of the fifteenth century, a poetry competition in honor of the Immaculate Conception was held in Rouen. In it, Marian devotion became an exaltation of creativity in poems extolling man and his activities. This anthology reveals the world as it was seen by the early Renaissance, abundant and beautiful.
