BASIC CLASS

What is writing?

To write is to compose, create or convert conceptual innovative ideas into reality. Writing has been part and parcel of human existence to the extent that it reveals the purpose and ideals of modern-day society. Writing is an indispensable art of human creation originating from inspiration, innovation, and critical thinking meant to showcase the mindset of the writer. Historically, writing systems appear to have been independent invented four times in human history: firstly in Mesopotamia (present day Iraq) with the cuneiform ( 3400-3300 BC), then in Egypt ( 3200 BC). By 1300 BC, a fully operational writing system was evident in the Shag-dynasty China. Sometime between 900 and 600 BC, writing also appeared in the cultures of Mesoamerica.

Continuous writing leads to acquisition of necessary skills, intuition, innovations and experience culminating into prolific writing.

According to English dictionary, writing is the act or art of forming letters and characters on paper, wood, stone, or other material, for the purpose of recording the ideas which characters and words express or communicating them to others by visible signs. Writing is the act or process of someone who writes. Writing in professional fields has been in existence since the advent of teaching and learning.

What makes the difference between a writer and an author?

According to Steve Eyarefe (2021) in his presentation posits that an author is the creator or initiator of his/her own ideas while a writer can write his own or somebody's original ideas. Everybody can write but not everybody can be an author. In essence, an author is someone whose written work has been published. In addition, people are considered authors when they originate the ideas and content of their work.

So what is eBook creation?

Simply put, E-book creation is the use of enabling technologies (e-book Creator) to make books that are accessible online. The eBook Creator is an easy-to-use tool for making multimedia digital books in any subject area, from primary upwards. The e-Book Creator is meant to Create (i.e. combine text, audio, video, drawings, photos and Appsmash. Other content include the Read option (i.e. have your book read to you in multiple languages, with word highlighting and page turning; and Publish: (i.e. share your book online, download as an ePub file or print it as a PDF). With eBook Creator creativity can be brought to classroom, and help engage reluctant writers, and allow students to demonstrate their understanding.33

Nowadays lots of e-book creation tools abound and one of such is the Amazon.com database utility meant to not just create and publish the e-book but also to help the author to market the e-book for financial benefits through the sale of the books

The idea of eBook creation is basically to publish.

What is the final destination of published book. The final destination of an author's book is in the READER'S HAND, E-LIBRARY AND BOOKSHELF. These destinations can only be achieved through marketing and SALE of the Author's book.

1. Read Every Day: As you do, note what you like about certain passages (replicate these things) and note what you don't like about certain passages (avoid these things).

2. Exercise Every Day: My best work for ideas for articles to paragraphs to sentences- always seems to pop into my mind in the midst of physical activity. Consider exercise a part of your job.

3. Sleep with a Notebook: During big writing projects, I often wake up in the middle of the night with ideas worth exploring-sometimes even entire paragraphs -in my head. I quickly jot them down in a notebook I keep on my nightstand so I can fall back asleep without having to worry about holding onto the idea.
