Beskrivelse
McCoy is four years old and was told by his mom that he has food allergies. Follow along as he learns how to stay safe and be brave while having multiple allergies.
This book is meant to be a simple children's tool to help teach young children what food allergies are and some of the things that can happen to their bodies during an allergic reaction. The goal is to help them learn to become more aware of the changes in their bodies so they can better communicate to adults how they are feeling. Recognizing an allergic reaction sooner leads to faster treatment and less anxiety for caregiver and child. This book contains pictures of McCoy's face and shoulders when he describes what happens when he has a reaction. Be aware that these pictures show a rash and puffy face and may lead to your child asking questions. The book also includes McCoy's safe plan and has a section for caregiver and child to create a safe plan as well. McCoy has food allergies is a great book for any child who needs to learn to pay more attention to their bodies and what to do in case of an allergic reaction. It is also a great learning tool for grandparents who have never dealt with allergies in children as well as teachers and therapists who may work with small children who have food allergies.
I originally created this book to help my own son who has multiple food allergies and a speech delay learn about his allergies and what to do if he has an allergic reaction. I hope it helps to take away a bit of anxiety surrounding your child's food allergies.
