Killing Our Shadows

Forced into early retirement, Detective Ronald Meadows returns to the barrier island where he was raised by his grandfather. But instead of hiding in solitude, Ron finds the stoic island has changed into a vacation destination for wealthy tourists. And this summer season brings a serial killer targeting teenagers.

Ron's entire life has been a magnet for trouble. Retirement is no different as he is drawn into the danger thanks to a random meeting with a big city private investigator working a case she should have turned down. Her problem soon becomes Ron's problems as he finds out the killer is only one thing the islanders should fear. Is this his own chance to redeem the fragile respect he wanted in life? The island needs a real detective. Ron Meadows needs to teach the new sheriff that solving crimes requires pulling on threads and being a little lucky. Between them are layers of secrecy and darkness. Don't we all have shadows we could kill?
