Beskrivelse

Iris of Avalon is the highly anticipated fourth book in the popular Seven Sisters of Avalon series. Like the first three books, Iris takes her readers on a fantastic journey through the "Britain Beyond" of the late sixth century when those who worship the Goddess face harsh conversion tactics from the Christian Church which has now risen to dominance. Lillian, the Lady of the Lake, and Bran, the Merlin Reborn, send their seven magical daughters into the seven kingdoms of Britain in a final effort to preserve the ancient forms of worship and protect those who revere the Goddess from the oppression inflicted by the rising power of the new Christian religion. Once in the "Britain Beyond," the princess priestesses face battles that will challenge their faith, redefine who they are, and propel them toward their own manifest destinies. In doing so, they also reshape the future of Britain, as well as Avalon. The Daughters of Avalon begins the series with the story of Bran and Lillian, while Rose of Avalon, Aster of Avalon, and Iris of Avalon tell the stories of their daughters who go into the seven kingdoms of Britain to return magic to the land and liaison with the country's leaders to protect the people of the Goddess. Each year, a new Seven Sisters of Avalon book releases for a total of eight books in the series. In this volume, Iris, a healer and midwife, journeys to Tintagel in Cornwall where her many greats grandmothers, Ygraine and Morgan, both reigned. She pledges to wed King Marcus, which means she also must tame his wild child daughter, the princess next in line to sit on the Cornish throne. King Marcus, a staunch Christian, awakens passions in Iris she never knew existed and through a traumatic turn of events, places her on a path that winds through tales both new and familiar to the reader. Although Iris of Avalon stands on its own as a beautiful, fast-paced story, reading first four Sisters of Avalon books for background may enhance the reader's enjoyment of the series. Editor's Note: This book contains some sexual situations and descriptions and may not be suitable for younger readers.
