Beskrivelse
Beautiful, original photographs of well-known and not so well known animals of Africa are presented in this book written for children ages 3-8. Children will be captivated by the photography in I Was Wondering from beginning to end, from the photo of the African Savannah on the front cover to the magnificent Baobab Tree on the back, as well as with all the photos of animals in between. Each photo is accompanied by a question which begins with the words, If I were a and then finishes the question by asking what that animal might do, eat, look like, etc. Children will love learning how fast a cheetah may run, how much an elephant might weigh and whatever a hippopotamus can swim. In I Was wondering there are eighteen animals photographed in their natural settings. There are many animals that you may be familiar with, but you will also get a glimpse of a Nyala, a Kudu and a Waterbuck. These photographs, taken at close range allow the reader to have a front row seat on their own safari! In the summer of 2013 the author and her family visited the countries of South Africa, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe and took all of the photographs themselves. The last few pages of this wonderful photographic book contain bullets of factual information about the animals photographed in the book. These interesting facts will provide a valuable reference for parents and teachers. As an extra bonus, children are exposed to the pre-mathematical concept of patterning as they read. The backgrounds of the pages in I Was Wondering are presented in an A-B-C pattern of African theme designs giving children the opportunity to predict what page will come next.
