One dreary day, I asked my son to make me a book. You see, he makes books all the time at school. They're interesting books made of scrap paper stapled together with a piece of folded construction paper for a cover. They've mostly been "school writing" like "Abraham Lincoln" or "What I like about cats." One time, he did a great one called "What People Like to Do On Sundays" which talked about different families and how some wash their cars but we go to church, and included tips on how to be a good parent by making cookies for your child. This day, however, the topic was more grown-up He called it "How To Be Nice To Ladies." The man drawn in those pictures was my boyfriend at the time (and now husband). Apparently, Philip wrote this book to lay down the law with his future step-dad. So it's really not just about being nice to ladies, but also being nice to step-sons. This book both impressed me and scared me. This is a collection of things that my baby discovered worked with ME (am I that easy to manipulate?) and I hope this knowledge will serve him well as he ages. At the same time, I'm not trying to be a grandma anytime in the next 20 years so I will really, REALLY *REALLY* pray that he's not, um, TOO successful with the ladies. I am publishing this (on his behalf) for a couple reasons 1. I think it's good. Really good. I'm not just saying that because I'm his mother Well, ok, maybe I am (but you should still buy this book for every guy on your list). 2. I was inspired by thirteen-year-old Jake Marcionette who wrote "Just Jake." I realize a self-published book your mom scanned in is NOTHING compared to having a publisher give you a 2-book deal, but it's a cool, fun project and he's proud of it. 3. The REAL reason I published the book is because I was a finalist for Ms. Veteran America 2017. Part of this competition is advocacy and fundraising for Final Salute Inc., an extraordinary charity that provides homeless female Veterans with safe and suitable housing. When I saw little man's book I thought women would be happy to give to the cause in exchange for some lighthearted validation. Together, "Team JJ" raised over $7,000 - providing over a month of expenses for the H.O.M.E. transitional housing program. Sales of this book now supports many other outreach services, including financial and business classes for socioeconomically challenged youth. Thanks for your support of our fundraiser (and my son). God bless YOU Janine Conway (was Wiggins)
