Long ago, King Solomon - known for his great wisdom - penned these words: "For as the thoughts of the heart are, so it will be" (Proverbs 23:7). And Jesus, teaching his disciples said, "Yes I tell you that whoever does not doubt in his heart but trusts that what he says will happen can say to this mountain, 'Go and throw yourself into the sea ' and it will be done for him" (Mark 11:23-24). What are the 'thoughts of your heart'? What have you told yourself will happen in life? Are your inner-thoughts, or life-commandments healing, or have they inflicted wounds - wounds that still cause you pain today? While our inner-child is ageless, the vessel that houses it - our body - ages from the moment we are born. And, while some things can slow this process nothing can stop or reverse it. However, the wounds inflicted upon our soul and spirit can be healed and the life-commandments we have given ourselves amended. A growing body of contemporary research indicates that most mental health problems, mood disorders, personality disorders and psychotic disorders are functional rather than structural in nature, having their origins in early-life socio-environmental stress and trauma. The results include arrested development, Reactive Attachment Disorder, Mood and Personality Disorders. This predisposes an individual to many other problems. Those developmentally arrested often have improvised life-management skills. As adults, they lack financial and time-management skills, have poor conflict-resolution skills and ineffective communication skills. They usually display anger inappropriately and struggle with impulse control, addiction and codependency issues. In this manual the authors walk you through the developmental stages from, conception to early school-age. At each stage they examine the principle skills one should have acquired, the typical wounding that can occur through abuse, abandonment and neglect. They then provide therapeutic interventions that when followed will restore health to one's inner-child and happiness to them as an adult.
