Gordon is a first-person account on Gordon looking back over his life and other seniors that he enjoyed talking to in the apartment where he is living in the later years of his life, while the covid 19 pandemic was killing off numerous people not too far away from home. He counts his blessings, including where he is living and the angel he has found along the way. He takes his story back to his childhood and how he managed with one eye, feeling somewhat inadequate over his handicap but adjusting to life; with the help of his dog who he wandered through the back country and mountains with. It gave him a sense of appreciation for animals in general; they became part of his life. The story follows how he went from delivering milk from the running board of a pickup to buying his own bicycle, getting a paper route and adjudgments made when is, one eye status, prevented him working in the paper mill where his father worked. After taking a course on cooking and baking he worked, first in a construction camp then for a geological surrey party in the wilds of the Yukon, taking a dog with him. Then worked on tugboats and a floating logging camp where he had his woman challenge, almost getting involved with the boss's wife. He left there and soon after went by bus to Toronto where he got a job with a veterinarian where he learned dog grooming and proper care of animals. The story follows his development into his own kennel, marriage and the death of his first wife. It goes into his involvement with women, divorces and affairs and the meeting of what he referred to as a gift from God. There is sexual content and emotional upheaval included. He went to university and the age of seventy and did get a B.A. at seventy-six.The story also includes the stories of other seniors that lived in the same apartment.
