This book is a ground-breaking study of the cultural and linguistic consequences of the English invasion ofIreland in 1169, first analysing in detail French-language texts produced in Ireland before examining the ways in which the country is portrayed in French literature of the twelfth, thirteenth, and fourteenth centuries.
