Poetry has been around for centuries. These poems have come from a place in Rachel's heart and soul that fell, jumped, danced, and clawed their way out of her mouth and mind onto the paper and into this book that you see before you. These pieces are about being human, about God, spirituality, love, heartbreak, sorrow, joy. They include vulnerable emotions. Rachel hopes that the poems will open a space of connecting closer to your own personal self and your own personal spirit. The world around us is full of intensity, and these poems seek to come to terms or grapple with this world. In the mystery of life, it seems that no words can quite do it justice, but the attempt if life giving in itself. Thank you so much for your look into these poems. It is the hope that we feel more able to open and connect with others after reading these poems, and that they may bring you a sense of groundedness and hopefulness. An excerpt: "We will dance and I will hold every hand of your nighttime child in a promise that you can touch like silk to your skin. So tell me now, sweet earth angel, how many lifetimes until you will rest your feet for an infinite breath with me?"Another excerpt: "1/19/19 call me I have many names. You call to me, and I will always answer. The soft petals of roses are my skin, as is the cat's tongue, as is the bird's song, as is the alley street, the simultaneous bliss and defeat felt by each and another. I am the child, and the mother. Under the labels and the stories, the heartbreaker and the lover, I am what words cannot say, yet if I had to give name, I am love. I am love. I am love."p.s.
