Don't Say You Can't: The Story of Mom

The story of Mom is the first installment in a deeper look into the life of a quad amputee, Cheryl Hoyt. She was a single parent in her early forties when the story begins and our lives changed forever.

I knew the story of mom needed to be shared. It's been requested over the years by friends, by acquaintances and even by strangers. Questions have often been asked out of pure interest, other questions out of astonishment and many times questions have been asked simply for curiosity's sake.

Getting to a place to be able to share certain aspects of the story took time, but I believe leaving out the bad parts wouldn't shed such an inspirational light on the good things.

Don't Say You Can't is dedicated to explaining the circumstances around how mom became an amputee. I've walked you through the first days: from the emergency room, to MICU, to the surgery. In addition, the story is peppered with journal entries and bits and pieces of my own medical struggle in my forties.

We all need inspiration. We need to know others have hard times and are still able to find fulfillment, peace and even joy in everyday life.
